The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced & enthusiastic SHS Advisor to join the well-established Qube team in Queensland. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and compliance programs specific to the transportation of Dangerous Goods. This role ensures adherence to all relevant regulations, including hazardous materials transport regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and environmental requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with drivers, operations staff, and management to promote a culture of safety and compliance. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance and continuity of the risk assessment of the scope of operations, including mining operations, working environment, current work practices and procedures Assist site personnel in the development of site and task specific risk assessments, operational procedures and work instruction and conduct ongoing reviews of the effectiveness and compliance to risk control measures.
Lead and conduct incident investigations, including the preparation of the investigation report. Conduct site compliance inspections and SHS audits. Assist in the management of Workers Compensation claims and Rehabilitation Plans/Programs Provide immediate support for incident investigations, hazard management and follow-up on closeout actions Identify and implement effective SHS initiatives Attend client meetings and provide technical and SHS Advice as required.
Coordinate with Management site KPI’s, Quarterly Management Reviews, Weekly Safety call etc. Liaise between National SHS Team and site for continuous improvement and sharing of national information and requirements. Qualification & Experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mining or heavy transport industry with working knowledge of the requirements under the NHVR Previous industry specific experience in a Health & Safety role Safety or related qualification from a tertiary institution (Minimum Cert IV WHS) A thorough understanding of safety within heavy transport industry Ability to undertake site risk assessments and assist in the development of SHS documentation.
Ability to develop tactical and strategic plans to address safety issues.
