Skilled Mechanic/MOT Tester Job reference: 002156 Salary: £30,515- £32,578 plus 10% shift allowance plus tool allowance Department: Place Location: Turnpike Depot Eccles Monday to Friday on an alternate week shift pattern Salford City Council's Vehicle Management Services provides maintenance to the councils fleet of vehicles within a specialist team. This consists of vans, trailers, road sweepers and 26 ton refuse vehicles.
We also inspect all Salford's registered private hire and hackney cabs on a twice year basis. We currently have an exciting vacancy within our Vehicle Management Services team to enable us to continue to build on our success and also bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the team About the Role This is an opportunity to enhance your skills, carrying out maintenance to our fleet of HGV, Light Vehicles and Specialised Equipment.
You must hold a current driving license (LGV category C is desirable but not essential) Ideally you would hold an NVQ level 3 and/or City & Guilds (or equivalent) for light or heavy vehicles in a Vehicle Maintenance/Repair environment or the willingness to obtain. The position attracts the opportunity to undertake continual training to enhance skills and knowledge. You need to organised, have good written and oral communication skills, whilst maintaining good customer care.
