Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon | Suffolk An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a long-established, independent veterinary practice in Suffolk. Offering a salary of £45,000–£65,000 depending on experience , the practice can offer considerable flexibility around the rota alongside genuine clinical freedom, excellent facilities and the support of a large multidisciplinary team.

The wider team comprises approximately 28 Veterinary Surgeons covering multiple species , although this position is predominantly small animal. Dedicated night vets provide the majority of overnight cover, with the wider veterinary team sharing approximately a couple of OOH duties each month. The Practice This long-established independent veterinary group provides first opinion and more advanced veterinary care across several practices in Suffolk. Remaining genuinely independent is central to the practice's culture.

Veterinary Surgeons are trusted to use their own clinical judgement, with patient care prioritised over corporate targets or protocols. You'll join a large and experienced veterinary team supported by Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Care Assistants and colleagues with advanced clinical interests. The size of the team provides excellent opportunities for case discussion and support while allowing vets to retain ownership and continuity of their own cases.

Facilities & Clinical Support The practice has invested significantly in modern veterinary facilities and equipment, including: • 16-slice CT. • Digital and dental radiography. • Ultrasound. • Endoscopy and laparoscopy equipment. • Modern operating theatres. • Advanced ophthalmology equipment. • Extensive in-house laboratory facilities.

The wider group also provides referral and advanced services across areas including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation. The Role This is a predominantly small animal position offering a varied first opinion caseload across consultations, medicine, surgery and diagnostics. The practice is looking for an experienced all-round Veterinary Surgeon who is comfortable managing their own cases but also enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues.

There is plenty of scope to develop individual clinical interests, supported by a generous CPD package, internal training and access to experienced clinicians across the wider team. Rota & OOH The practice is prepared to be very flexible with the rota , allowing the working pattern to be tailored around the successful candidate wherever possible. The practice provides its own 24-hour emergency service and has dedicated night Veterinary Surgeons .

The wider veterinary team shares a small amount of OOH cover, typically around a couple of duties per month . The Location Located in Suffolk , the practice offers an excellent balance between countryside living and accessibility. Cambridge and London are approximately an hour away, while Stansted Airport provides convenient connections for UK and international travel.
