Sonographer – Acute Care | Arkansas Permanent & Full-Time Direct Hire Ultrasound Imaging | Hospital-Based | Day Shift A hospital-based imaging department located in Arkansas, approximately one hour southwest of Little Rock, is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join its diagnostic imaging team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a skilled ultrasound professional who is comfortable working in an acute-care hospital environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong sonography experience, excellent patient-care skills, and the ability to perform high-quality diagnostic examinations in a fast-paced clinical setting. Schedule Full-time, permanent position Hospital-based acute-care sonography position Day shift Monday, Thursday, and Friday schedule Rotating call responsibilities Schedule details and call rotation to be discussed during the interview process Shift and call requirements may vary based on departmental needs Duties & Responsibilities Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to established imaging protocols.
Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures and explain examinations clearly. Verify patient identification, clinical history, and examination orders. Position patients appropriately for diagnostic examinations. Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively. Select appropriate imaging protocols based on the examination ordered. Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists and physicians.
Perform appropriate measurements, calculations, and image documentation. Recognize and document relevant sonographic findings. Evaluate images for technical quality and obtain additional images when appropriate. Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition. Provide compassionate and professional patient care. Maintain accurate patient and imaging documentation.
Follow established infection-control and patient-safety procedures. Maintain equipment and report equipment issues or malfunctions appropriately. Perform quality-control procedures as required. Follow departmental, regulatory, safety, and quality standards. Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements. Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
Assist with urgent and emergent imaging needs within the hospital. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment. Participate in quality-improvement initiatives. Perform additional sonography and imaging responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Prior Sonographer experience required. ARDMS certification/registry required or appropriate credentialing based on departmental requirements.
Appropriate Arkansas sonography/licensure or credentialing requirements must be met. BLS certification required. Associate degree or equivalent education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field required. Demonstrated ability to independently perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations. Strong knowledge of ultrasound protocols, anatomy, patient positioning, and image optimization. Experience in a hospital-based or acute-care imaging environment preferred.
