Sous Chef

Sous Chef- Cardoon Cafe and Provisions — Sylvan Lake, MI Cardoon is a European-style bakery, café, deli, and provisions shop in Sylvan Lake. We make a lot of things in-house and put a big emphasis on seasonal ingredients, good technique, and doing things the right way. We’re looking for a Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team. This is a hands-on position working closely with the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine to run the kitchen, lead the team, and keep the food and operation moving in the right direction.

Responsibilities Run day-to-day kitchen operations and service Lead and train the kitchen team Oversee prep, production, and service Maintain food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and organization Help with ordering, receiving, inventory, and food cost Assist with scheduling and managing labor Maintain food safety and sanitation standards Help develop specials, recipes, and seasonal menu items Work closely with the bakery, deli, and FOH teams Step in wherever needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly We're Looking For At least 3 years of professional kitchen experience Previous leadership experience preferred Strong cooking and organizational skills Someone who can lead a team without taking themselves too seriously Good communication and a positive attitude Someone who cares about the details and takes pride in their work Comfortable in a busy, fast-paced kitchen Food safety certification preferred This is a great opportunity for a chef who wants to be part of a growing restaurant and have a real hand in shaping the kitchen and the team.
