Specialist Podiatrist

Appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau. The Podiatry Service provides a range of clinical services within the community, hospitals, domiciliary, residential and nursing home settings for the at risk patient caseload including Diabetics, Peripheral Vascular Disease patients and Connective Tissue disorder patients.The Specialist Podiatrist will be based in one locality team but will be expected to work across all localities for the Podiatry Service.The post holder will be expected to work evening clinics and Saturday morning clinics for the Podiatry Service when required.You should have the ability to work autonomously delivering patient care including the management of high risk patients with multiple clinical pathologies, including specialist interventions such as nail surgery, wound care, vascular assessment and Biomechanics.You will be responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and treatment of patients on a day to day basis using the Podiatry Service access criteria.

You should have significant and extensive experience working at Band 5 Podiatrist level., You should be aware of professional and national guidelines, be up to date with current best practice and be able to demonstrate your interest in continued professional development and clinical audit.You will be an enthusiastic, motivated, conscientious and flexible team player is being sought with good clinical, communication and organisational skills.

The successful candidate requires a positive attitude to personal and professional development for themselves and the Podiatry Service. You will receive excellent training and development opportunities and receive support from Clinical Specialist Podiatrists and your locality Team Leader and will be part of a wider East Lancashire Hospitals Podiatry Team. You will also take part in the clinical supervision of junior staff within the Podiatry Service.
