Location: Chippenham Community Hospital Hours: 37.5 hours per week, As a Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist, you'll deliver expert care to patients with complex respiratory conditions, supporting their health, wellbeing, and recovery. This involves specialist assessments, care planning, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. You'll work at Chippenham Community Hospital, ensuring patients receive personalized interventions.
You will also support Community Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs, empowering patients through education and behavioral change initiatives. About the Role We are seeking a motivated and skilled Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our experienced and supportive clinical team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist respiratory service, providing high-quality, evidence-based care to patients across a range of respiratory pathways. Using your advanced clinical skills and specialist knowledge, you will assess, monitor, and review patients referred to the service, ensuring they receive personalised interventions that support improved respiratory health and independence., Deliver specialist respiratory assessments and interventions for patients with COPD, ILD, and other long-term respiratory conditions, ensuring care is evidence-based and patient-centred.
Assess patients for Long-Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT), perform capillary blood gas sampling, and support appropriate, safe, and cost-effective oxygen prescribing. Develop, implement, and regularly review individualised care plans to optimise patient outcomes, independence, and quality of life. Support the delivery of Community Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes, including exercise prescription, education, and ongoing patient engagement.
Empower patients to effectively self-manage their condition through education, behavioural change techniques, and health promotion initiatives. Manage a diverse caseload, prioritising patient needs and coordinating care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, GPs, consultants, and community services. Communicate complex clinical information clearly and sensitively to patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals, including those receiving palliative care support.
Maintain accurate clinical records, contribute to audit, quality improvement, service development activities, and support the training and development of colleagues while ensuring compliance with professional, organisational, and regulatory standards.
