Ward 5 is a36-bedded endocrinology ward, caring for patients with a range of endocrinological conditions and diabetic complications. Working alongside our specialist diabetes nurses, we support patients newly diagnosed with diabetes, as well as those with complex diabetic needs alongside other acute medical conditions.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, patients and their relatives to provide safe, compassionate care and support effective discharge. Our in-house Discharge Coordinator provides additional support with complex discharge planning and processes. We welcome applications from newly qualified and experienced nurses, and nurses graduating in September 2026 are encouraged to apply.
Admit and discharge patients safely To implement and be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care. To act in accordance with policies and nursing procedures as per Trust policy. To co-ordinate the team/ward in absence of the team leader or ward manager. To ensure confidentiality of patient records and high standards of nursing documentation using EPIC system. To be aware of the complaints procedure and be able to apply it as needed.
To escalate as appropriate any untoward incidents, complaints and ward/staff issues. To participate in ongoing clinical supervision. To promote good working relationships and to support the ward manager to achieve high morale within the team.
