The company is seeking a systems engineer to enable command-and-control capabilities for unmanned aerial systems through resilient network design. The role involves deriving system, subsystem and component-level requirements, designing and maintaining system components, and conducting thorough testing and debugging within distributed systems contexts. The engineer works closely with hardware engineers and product managers to integrate software and hardware, and collaborates on defining software engineering processes and quality standards.
The position supports the development, production and sustainment of flight vehicles across their entire lifecycle, working on-site at the company's headquarters with up to 50% domestic travel. Responsibilities Enable UAS C2 capabilities through resilient network design Derive system/subsystem/component level requirements Design, develop, and maintain system components that meet functional and performance requirements in complex system environments Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the reliability, scalability, and resilience of software applications, especially within a distributed systems context Work closely with hardware engineers and product managers to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components Collaborate with the team to define and document software engineering processes and practices, ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements Requirements A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture, and a passion for systems development, integration, and testing 12+ years experience as a network engineer that highlights your ability to execute complex engineering level tasks as an individual and part of a team Expert level knowledge of multicast and supporting protocols IGMP & PIM Expert level knowledge of unicast and supporting protocols OSPF & BGP Experience with end to end testing of both unicast and multicast data flows Experience with Quality of Service and CBWFQ Advanced knowledge of Linux based operating systems Hands on experience with networking design, test and operation of communications systems for Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) Proficiency in test script development using common languages (Python, Matlab etc) Excellent verbal & written communication skills Must hold a U.S.
Secret security clearance Ability to travel domestically up to 50% as needed to support various efforts, and excitement to work onsite at our headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA the majority of the time! Nice to have Familiarity with End to End RF Integration with, but not limited to, Unmanned Aerial Systems Hands on experience with tactical radios Benefits The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
