An exciting opportunity has arisen at the company's Rosebank depot in Cape Town for a skilled and professional Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to join their logistics and distribution team on a full-time basis.

This is a hands-on operational role that demands punctuality, a strong sense of responsibility, and a commitment to delivering outstanding service to customers at every interaction. Key Responsibilities Assist with and supervise the safe, efficient loading of the delivery vehicle prior to each route, ensuring goods are correctly secured and protected for transit. Verify that all goods loaded onto the vehicle correspond accurately with the accompanying Delivery Notes and sign for acceptance of the load before departure.

Conduct thorough checks when offloading goods at customer premises, confirming quantities and condition against the Delivery Note and obtaining the customer's signature as Proof of Delivery (POD); document and have the customer sign for any shortages identified at point of delivery. Ensure that all delivered goods are in a clean, presentable, and saleable condition with regard to packaging, general appearance, and neatness at the time of handover.

Collect customer returns as listed on Goods Return Vouchers (GRVs) when required, and hand in all returned goods and completed GRVs to the Depot, Stores, or Dispatch Supervisor upon return to the warehouse. Complete the company's daily and weekly Vehicle Checklist before leaving the warehouse, highlighting any faults, concerns, or problem areas, and report any defects or suspected defects promptly to the relevant supervisor.

Maintain an accurate vehicle delivery schedule, recording arrival and departure times at each stop and ensuring the schedule is signed off by the customer as confirmation of service. Maintain the vehicle in a consistently clean, roadworthy condition; present a professional, well-groomed appearance at all times and engage with customers in a courteous and helpful manner that reflects positively on the Starke Ayres brand.

Requirements & Qualifications Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent qualification. Valid Code 10 (Heavy Motor Vehicle) Driver's Licence — a heavy or public service vehicle licence is required for this role. Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) — applicants must hold a current, unendorsed PDP at the time of application. Minimum of 2 years' proven experience as a delivery driver operating heavy motor vehicles in a commercial or logistics environment.

Sound understanding of road regulations, vehicle maintenance requirements, and safe loading procedures applicable to heavy motor vehicles. Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately verify delivery documentation, including Delivery Notes, PODs, and GRVs. Excellent time management and route planning skills, with the ability to manage a structured delivery schedule effectively. A customer-focused attitude, professional demeanour, and the interpersonal skills to represent the company with integrity at every delivery point.
