No Essential Functions-Provides daily supervision of technical, clerical, and service employees. -Plans, organizes, delineates, and schedules duties and responsibilities of Laboratory staff in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager. -Assists other technologists as needed with technical problems and interpretation of results. -Determines the priority of work at the laboratory, assuring the timely completion of work.

-Is responsible for ordering and maintaining an appropriate level of inventory and laboratory supplies.-Maintains manuals on all Standard Operating Procedures and required records and reports. -Responsible for ensuring staff adhere to all safety policies and procedures. -Responsible for orientation, training, and competency assessments, assuring staff:1. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.2.

Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.3. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.4. Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.5.

Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical consultant, technical supervisor, clinical consultant or director; and6. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.Qualifications EducationBachelor's Degree Medical Technology required or Bachelor's Degree Laboratory Sciences required and Other Certificate/Diploma Clinical Laboratory Sciences requiredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?NoLicenses and CredentialsMedical Technologist (ASCP) [MLS, MLT, MT] - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) requiredExperienceClinical lab experience 3-5 years required and Supervisory experience 1-2 years preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities- The knowledge, both practical and theoretical, of tests and procedures necessary to review findings and advise and direct subordinates in action.- Demonstrates advanced level of analytical skills and judgment.- Must have a relatively high level of analytical ability to work with complex instrumentation, resolve technical equipment problems, relate test results to normal and pathological states, and interpret quality control data.- Must have understanding of computer technology and its application to analytical procedures and quality control.- Must have a comprehensive understanding of laboratory equipment and its operation, maintenance and repair, and analytic techniques.- Must have the ability to work independently, evaluate situations and act appropriately.- Detailed knowledge of applicable federal, state and accreditation requirements.- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced envi
