These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents About the Role As a Surveyor – Disrepair / Damp & Mould, you will play a vital role in ensuring that Haringey’s housing stock is safe, compliant, and well maintained. Working across a diverse portfolio of approximately 20,000 tenanted and leasehold homes , you will lead on diagnosing, managing, and resolving cases of damp, mould, and building disrepair.

Your work will include carrying out pre  and post inspections, condition surveys and joint site visits with operatives, contractors and external specialists. You will prepare detailed specifications and reports, oversee works on site, and ensure all activity meets statutory, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.  The role also involves supporting legal disrepair cases by interpreting expert reports, preparing evidence and producing clear, robust documentation that may be used in court proceedings.

This is a hands on, technically demanding role requiring strong diagnostic skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively. About the Team You will join the Housing Repairs Service within the Adults, Housing and Health directorate, responsible for maintaining the council’s extensive housing portfolio. The team works collaboratively with surveyors, works coordinators, contractors, legal providers, building control, and senior managers to deliver high quality, responsive repairs services.

The service promotes professionalism, technical excellence and continuous improvement – with surveyors acting as key technical advisors on building pathology, damp and mould and disrepair issues. About You You are a technically capable, detail driven surveyor who takes pride in delivering high quality, compliant and customer focused repairs services.

You bring a practical, investigative approach to diagnosing building defects and are confident working independently on site as well as collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and legal partners. You communicate clearly, manage your workload effectively and are motivated by improving housing conditions and resident wellbeing. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate: •    Strong knowledge of building construction, defect analysis, and building pathology, including when to engage specialist referrals •    Proven experience managing damp, mould and disrepair cases, including understanding of the Legal Disrepair process and Housing Conditions Protocol •    Ability to prepare comprehensive specifications, reports, and fully coded Schedules of Works using NHF/NATFED SOR codes •    Experience managing contractors, including assessing variations, monitoring works quality, and undertaking WIP and post inspections •    Strong understanding of Hea
