Job description As a Tax Risk Officer (TRO) you will play a key role in managing tax compliance for LTT and LDT and supporting taxpayers to pay the right tax at the right time. You’ll need to be a team player with excellent customer service and decision making skills. You’ll need to be highly motivated, organised, and able to balance a varied workload made up of technical and administrative activities.

Using Our Approach, you will review cases, such as repayment requests, and manage our debt and enquiry processes, applying sound judgment to achieve fair outcomes. You’ll work closely with internal teams (Helpdesk, Tax Specialists, Finance, Legal, Policy) and external stakeholders such as taxpayers and their agents, providing excellent customer service and explanations of decisions. To be successful in the role, you’ll be confident in making decisions and explaining how these have been reached within our processes while providing excellent, timely customer service to both internal and external customers.

Review and process repayment claims, conducting compliance checks to ensure the right tax is paid while maintaining accurate audit trails. Manage debt recovery and enforcement activities in line with WRA policies. Undertaking review requests by working with the taxpayer and agent to gather relevant information to make an informed decision, and communicating this to the taxpayer.
