Through collaboration with the health system, we support the development of data and technical standards,?maintain?key health databases, carry out analytics and evaluation, and support health research. We support healthcare within Newfoundland and Labrador, including patients and communities,?through the delivery of information technology (IT) and digital health services applied?in?the healthcare system to provide quality care.
Our mandate includes the development and implementation of a confidential and secure provincial electronic health record as well as other provincial clinical information programs, including the change management required to support adoption by end user clinicians.? Following the successful provincial go-live of the Health Information System (HIS) powered by Epic, NL Health Services is transitioning to a sustained operational model focused on stabilizing,?maintaining, and continuously improving the system.
This next phase?builds on?the foundation?established?during implementation and shifts the focus to supporting day-to-day operations, ensuring system reliability, and enabling ongoing enhancement in support of clinical and business needs.? In the operational state, Digital Health teams play a key role in maintaining, supporting, and continuously improving the HIS. This includes collaborating with clinical, operational, and technical partners to address emerging needs, resolve issues, support quality improvement initiatives, and identify opportunities to optimize workflows, user experience, and patient outcomes.
To support this transition, NLHS continues to build and strengthen its Digital Health workforce across clinical informatics, information technology, analytics, and change enablement. These roles are essential to sustaining system performance, advancing continuous improvement efforts, and ensuring the HIS evolves in alignment with organizational priorities and provincial healthcare needs. About the Role Reporting to the CorCare Training Manager, the Training Specialist (CorCare Principal Trainer - Patient Access, HIM, HB) supports the development, delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of role-based CorCare (Epic) training across NL Health Services.
The role applies clinical practice, adult education, workflow, and Health Information System knowledge to assess training needs, develop and maintain learning materials, support the training environment, and provide high-quality education and workflow support as CorCare evolves. The Training Specialist (CorCare Principal Trainer - Patient Access, HIM, HB) works at the intersection of clinical workflows, education, system functionality, and end-user support.
The role helps translate operational and clinical workflow needs into targeted training materials, accurate training environment build, practical learning supports, and ongoing education that enables safe, effective, and consistent use of CorCare across clinical programs and practice settings. The Training Specialist (CorCare Principal Trainer - Patient Access, HIM, HB) collaborates with end users, program managers, clinical leaders, application support teams, information systems staff, vendors, and provincial stakeholders to support training
