We are looking for a confident, self starting Transport Planner to join our friendly and committed Traffic & Transport Team. This is a varied and rewarding role offering a high degree of independence, professional autonomy, and the opportunity to help shape transport policy and services across the Winchester district. About the Role You will act as a key source of transport planning expertise within the Council, providing advice to internal teams-particularly Planning-on major development schemes and strategic projects.
A significant part of the role involves supervising Winchester's Park & Ride service, including: - Working closely with bus operators to ensure high quality service delivery - Carrying out site inspections and monitoring performance - Managing the service's finances, including securing government grants - Leading the procurement of the next Park & Ride operating contract (tendering, bid evaluation, contract award) You will also contribute to the development of transport policies and strategies, supporting work on: - The Winchester District Local Plan - The City of Winchester Movement Strategy (WMS) - Joint County/District transport initiatives - Transport/Parking policy and wider transport related Council projects
