Employer: Premier Medical Staffing Services, LLC Discipline: RN Specialty: LD Shift: 3x12 hr nights Start: ASAP (may be flexible) Hours: 36/week Type: Travel Duration: 4 weeks Travel Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse job duties While job duties may vary depending on the facility you work with, here are some common Travel LD RN responsibilities: Monitor and assess the vital signs of both mother and fetus during labor, ensuring any changes are promptly addressed.

Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and epidural anesthesia as prescribed by physicians to manage pain and facilitate labor. Assist obstetricians and midwives during labor and delivery, providing necessary instruments and support. Educate expectant mothers and their families on the labor and delivery process, pain management options, and postnatal care. Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly in electronic health records.

Provide emotional support and reassurance to mothers and families throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, such as fetal heart rate monitoring and ultrasound, to ensure the health of both mother and baby. Coordinate care with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and lactation consultants, to provide comprehensive care.

Assist with newborn care immediately after delivery, including Apgar scoring, initial physical assessments, and facilitating skin-to-skin contact. Educate new mothers on breastfeeding techniques, newborn care, and postpartum recovery to promote health and well-being. Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines. Manage emergency situations, such as postpartum hemorrhage or fetal distress, by providing advanced life support and critical interventions as necessary.

Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education to stay current with advancements in obstetric and neonatal nursing practices. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and ethical standards in all aspects of patient care. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all nursing interventions, patient responses, and any changes in condition.
