Primary Role The Truck Driver/Utility Worker performs a variety of tasks to assist in the efficient and reliable operation, maintenance, protection, and appearance of all pipelines, services, hydrants, valves, and other appurtenances within the distribution system. The role is primarily that of a Utility Worker. The shift for this position is Monday through Friday 7a-3:30p. Key Accountabilities Constantly performs work assigned by supervisor; collects, compiles, and records work data.
Constantly breaks up pavement, using pavement breakers, pry bars, shovels, picks, and other hand tools to dig excavations preparatory to removing and/or repairing pipes. Frequently backfills, tamps, and installs temporary paving, using assorted hand tools and tamping machine. Frequently ensures jobsite is secure prior to leaving. Frequently determines appropriate material, pipe sections, valves, and fittings needed to perform assigned work.
Frequently performs cutting, threading, brazing, soldering, and connecting or adjoining pipe and fittings, as required. Frequently performs taps, as required. Occasionally drives company vehicles including backhoe, as required. Occasionally installs or removes shoring systems, as required. Constantly follows established safety guidelines and procedures. Occasionally performs duties of Laborer, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned. Experience/Education High School graduate or State-recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate.
