Urgent Locum Hematologist/Oncologist Needed in Des Moines, Iowa | Flexible 2026-2027|~AD

Med Ninjas is seeking an experienced Hematologist/Oncologist for an important locum tenens opportunity at established medical centers in Des Moines and West Des Moines, Iowa . Multiple coverage blocks are available from September 2026 through August 2027 , including clinic-only weeks and blocks with night and weekend call. Physicians may select the dates that best match their availability. Key Assignment Highlights Locations: Des Moines and West Des Moines, Iowa Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Coverage Options: Clinic-only blocks and clinic-with-call blocks Practice Mix: Approximately 95% outpatient and 5% inpatient Patient Volume: Approximately 10 to 30 clinic patients per day Hospital Census: Approximately 10 to 15 patients at the primary location and 5 to 8 at the secondary location Appointment Length: Approximately 20 minutes EMR: Epic Support: One RN or CMA per physician Travel: Airfare, lodging, rental car, and mileage reimbursement available Teaching: Informal teaching opportunities may be available Priority 2026 Coverage Dates September 21-27: Clinic, night call, and 24-hour weekend call on September 26 and 27 September 28-October 4: Clinic, night call, and 24-hour weekend call on October 3 and 4 October 17-18: 24-hour call coverage October 19-25: Clinic, night call, and 24-hour weekend call on October 24 and 25 Additional 2027 Coverage Multiple clinic-only and clinic-with-call blocks are available from January through August 2027 .

Physicians may indicate all dates they are available to cover. Clinical Responsibilities Perform new patient assessments Create and manage treatment plans Adjust therapies as clinically appropriate Manage chemotherapy treatment Provide pain and symptom management Coordinate referrals for ancillary services Provide end-of-life care Manage outpatient Hematology and Oncology patients Assist with limited inpatient responsibilities Cover both Des Moines and West Des Moines facilities as scheduled Requirements Board Certified or truly Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology preferred Oncology Board Certification may be considered with Hematology experience and willingness to treat Hematology patients Fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology required Active Iowa medical license or active IMLC with Letter of Qualification Relevant Hematology/Oncology experience Clean malpractice and professional background Willingness to work at both Des Moines and West Des Moines locations Exact available coverage dates must be provided Interested physicians should reply with their updated CV, available coverage dates, Iowa or IMLC status, and expected hourly and call rates .
