Help drive a culture of experimentation and data-driven decision-making at Walmart scale to continuously evolve and improve the customer experience. We are seeking a technical lead software engineer to design and advance the core infrastructure powering Walmart's self-serve experimentation platform.

This position sits on the Walmart Experimentation Platform team, where our mission is to deliver a first-in-class, reliable, and scalable experimentation experience across all of Walmart's digital surfaces. You will shape the platform's multiyear technical strategy, drive cross-org alignment, and ensure the architecture can support Walmart's evolving experimentation needs. What you'll do... Drive the technical direction for Walmart's experimentation backend services, aligning long-term platform strategy with business needs across multiple organizationsDesign, develop, and scale efficient and reliable systems and pipelines to support teams globally throughout WalmartProvide deep technical mentorship and elevate engineering culture across a high-performing, agile engineering teamClosely partner with data scientists, product managers, and engineering leaders to advance experimentation methodologies and ensure platform adoption and success What you'll bring: Proven technical leadership of a team of engineersExperience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining large-scale systemsExpertise in one or more: Java, Scala, Lua, RustMaintaining and deploying compute environments across local and cloud-based systemsAbility to proactively manage projects across multiple teams and troubleshoot issuesProven ability to influence technical decisions across multiple teams or organizationsStrong strategic thinking-ability to connect engineering decisions to long-term business outcomesExceptional communication skills, enabling clear articulation of complex technical approaches to senior leadership and cross-functional audiencesAbility to identify emerging technologies and guide their adoptionExpertise in reliability engineering, observability, platform governance, and operational excellence for mission-critical systems Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Experimentation (A/B Testing)Experience working with Feature Flags and risk-mitigated deploymentsExperience building data solutions and AI/ML productsStrong contributions to open-source frameworks, standards, or libraries Responsibilities: Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; designing solutions (design docs, wireframes, implementation plans); writing and developing code; testing; collaborating with cross-functional teams; troubleshooting open issues and bug fixes; and ensuring on-time delivery.Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (issue, impact, criticality, root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; formulating an action plan; and performing actions as designated in the plan.Provide and support the implementation of business solutions through partnerships with stakeholders, identifying needs, managing processes, and adapting to evolving demands.Define the technical roadmap for experimentation platform services, aligning architecture decisions with multi-quarter business priorities.Lead the design of platform-level systems, authoring architecture proposals, conducting design reviews, and setting technical direction across services.Drive cross-org initiatives, collaborating with analytics, platform, and product teams to deliver unified experimentation capabilities.Ensure operational excellence for experimentation backend services, joining and driving incident mitigation efforts and root cau
