Whatever part you play youll be helping us deliver operational excellence to our customers. At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. The successful Welder will be expected to work with a variety of industry equipment in carrying out various fabrication duties.
We're looking for someone that has knowledge of percussion riveting, Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels and other skills as expected with the role. This is a full-time, permanent position on the following shift pattern (which includes 25% shift premium): Week 1: Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Friday Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday There is opportunity to work night shifts once fully trained which incurs an additional 33% shift premium.
How You'll Contribute Working with various materials (titanium, aluminium, stainless steel) in the manufacture of aircraft parts, across a variety of Airbus family of aircraft Ensure parts are produced on a right first time basis Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974 To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval) Responsible for general housekeeping within the area Compliant with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities What You'll Bring To help us make a difference, youll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes: Essential: A recognised and relevant apprenticeship and relevant NVQ level 3 (Or equivalent) Previous experience in a manufacturing environment Ability to work to standard operating procedures Must be able to work in small teams with Team Leaders Self-motivated team player with good communication skills Desirable: Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives Ability to operate CNC Machinery (Unison Pipe Bending machines, Power Presses, CNC Drilling & routering) Experience of swaging pipework What We'll Offer Once youre on board youll get the following perks and benefits: Starting salary of £35,304 rising to £36,750 once fully certified (after around 3 months) + shift allowance (up to 33%) totaling £45,937.50 for day shift or £48,877.50 for night shift + Up to 4% Bonus Industry Leading Pension Scheme = well match your contributions up to 8% on a 1 : 1.5 basis Life Assurance 8 x salary 175 hours annual leave + bank holidays Income protection Shopping discounts Cycle To Work Scheme Employee Assistance Programme Virtual GP Clinic for you and immediate family A collaborative, dynamic working environment As well as a competitive package we will offer you a world of opportunity.
