Compensation Amount:20.00 USD HourlyJob Summary:Mountain Patrol addresses the safety of the mountain and guests by providing emergency care and attending to safety issues on the mountain. Job Description:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSkiing or snowboarding to perform trail and mountain opening and closing procedures as assigned.As directed, patrol assigned patrol work area regularly while consistently greeting and engaging guests to promote a fun, safe and friendly atmosphere.
Help educate guests about mountain safety through active personal contact.Stop reckless skiers, and snowboarders and enforce Your Responsibility Code, Giants Ridge safety regulations and policies, including taking appropriate disciplinary action as needed.Administer emergency care / first aid / CPR when necessary.Safely and skillfully transport injured to patrol room.Be proficient with lift evacuation procedures and skills.Recognize and address existing and potential safety hazards.
As directed, perform daily trail maintenance including but not limited to marking trail openings and closures, placing/maintaining signage and fencing, and marking obstacles. Understand the function of the equipment used and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.Maintain clean, safe and professional work areas.Develop and maintain appropriate reports and records as set forth by Giants Ridge patrol policy and procedures.
Maintain communication with other departments.SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDEProficient ski/snowboarding skills.High School Diploma/GED - 15 to 17 years old may be eligible for Young Adult Patroller program.CPR/AED Certification required.Minimum Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certified, Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or paramedic - must be able to successfully challenge OEC course material.
Ability to demonstrate proficiency in skiing or snowboarding.Ability to proficiently handle patient transportation equipment.Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people.Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities. Ability to learn and develop new skills.Ability to problem solve.Strong communication skills, written and verbal.Excellent customer service.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSMoving about on foot, skis or snowboard to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs.
regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, ability to lift, roll, pull and carry up to 200+ pounds with assistance.The ability to follow established policies and procedures when operating a snowmobile and/or UTV on the mountain.Ability to withstand extreme cold, wet and hot weather for long periods of time.Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
