Summary: Under the direction of the Project Team Lead, the Heavy Equipment Operator- Grader Operator is responsible for assisting the Project Team Lead and General Foreman with accomplishing the project goals and day-to-day objectives and to conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focuses: Operate and maintain the grader in a safe and efficient manner as required to meet specified operational deadlines. Coordinate machine action to move/position loads, comply with hand and/or audio signals from other crew members. Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and walk around inspection prior to operating the equipment. Operate the grader on surfaces to raise or lower terrain; perform site prep, soil stripping, finishing, dirt management, reclamation activities, granular final grade levelling, and haul road maintenance.
Operate grader proficiently in close proximity to other vehicles, ground personnel, and utilities. Maintain equipment, report any maintenance required. Adhere to all Fort McKay Group of Companies policies and procedures, wear/maintain all PPE, reliably show up for work fit for duty, and complete any Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLRA) and control hazards related to the scope of work. Assist the Labourers or any other Operator as needed. Perform any related and/or additional construction duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required. Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required 3 year Drivers Abstract is required CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required Ground Disturbance II is required. First Aid is considered an asset. At least 3+ years of experience operating a grader with construction industry experience located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in an environment relating to Reclamation, Civil Earthworks, Mining, or Oil/Gas is required.

Ability to speak, write and read English is required This is a full time position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Syncrude MLX Site.Work schedule is 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. 11.5 hour shift.NOTE: Camp/ flight accommodations are NOT provided.
