The Director Health & Safety Management leads health and safety programs across development and construction projects, with a strong focus on maintaining safe, compliant, and productive active job sites. This role will serve as a hands-on safety leader in the field, partnering closely with Project Directors, construction management teams, contractors, and vendors to identify risks, establish controls, and drive continuous improvement.
The Director brings strong construction safety expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to influence a diverse workforce while maintaining a consistent focus on accountability and operational excellence. This role will be regularly present on active construction sites and will play a critical role in ensuring safety is integrated into project planning and day-to-day execution. What will you do? Lead job-site safety programs: Establish, implement, and continuously improve health and safety practices across active construction sites, ensuring alignment with company standards, project requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Conduct field safety oversight: Maintain a consistent presence on construction sites, conducting inspections, observations, audits, and job hazard analyses to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and emerging risks and ensure corrective actions are addressed promptly. Partner with project leadership: Work closely with Project Directors, construction managers, superintendents, contractors, and subcontractors to embed safety into project planning, scheduling, site logistics, and daily operations.
Manage incident prevention and response: Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; identify root causes; develop corrective and preventive actions; and monitor follow-through to reduce recurrence. Drive contractor and subcontractor accountability: Evaluate safety performance, monitor compliance with site-specific safety requirements, and hold contractors and subcontractors accountable for maintaining appropriate safety standards and practices.
Lead training and safety communications: Develop and deliver site-specific safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and other communications that promote awareness, reinforce expectations, and build a strong safety culture across the project workforce. Monitor compliance and reporting: Maintain accurate safety records, metrics, inspections, incident reports, and regulatory documentation; analyze trends and provide clear, actionable reporting to project and Development & Construction leadership.
Champion a proactive safety culture: Serve as a visible and trusted safety leader who encourages employees and project partners to identify hazards, speak up about concerns, and take ownership of safe work practices. Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site. What do you need to succeed?
