Position Summary The Engineering Manager, Bridge Engineering serves as a senior technical leader supporting bridge inspection, bridge design, rehabilitation, load rating, quality management, and project delivery activities across transportation infrastructure programs.
This position provides technical oversight, mentoring, quality assurance review, and subject matter expertise for bridge engineering projects while supporting project managers, clients, and technical staff throughout all phases of project delivery. The role is expected to serve as a senior bridge engineering resource with the ability to independently lead inspection programs, provide technical review of structural designs and analyses, support pursuit efforts, and assist in developing transportation and bridge engineering capabilities within the organization.
Key Responsibilities Serve as a senior technical authority for bridge inspection, bridge rehabilitation, bridge replacement, and structural engineering projects. Lead bridge inspection and evaluation efforts for state DOTs, transportation agencies, municipalities, and local government clients. Perform and oversee structural analyses, load ratings, condition assessments, and inspection report development.
Provide technical oversight and quality assurance/quality control review of engineering calculations, plans, specifications, reports, and deliverables. Support bridge design projects from preliminary engineering through final design and construction support. Mentor engineers, bridge inspectors, and technical staff through project execution and technical development. Support project managers in staffing, technical execution, risk management, and client coordination.
Contribute to proposal preparation, statements of interest, qualifications packages, and transportation pursuits. Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal project teams to deliver successful project outcomes. Provide technical consultation and project support across multiple geographic regions and business units, as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license. Minimum 15+ years of bridge engineering experience, including bridge inspection and design. Demonstrated experience leading bridge inspection programs and transportation infrastructure projects. Experience performing structural analysis, load ratings, rehabilitation design, and bridge condition assessments. Strong technical writing, communication, and client interaction skills.
