    Material, Logistics & Tool Management Manager Position Summary The Material, Logistics & Tool Management Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all material management, warehousing, logistics, laydown operations, and tool management activities across fabrication facilities and active construction projects. This position plays a critical role in ensuring field and shop personnel have the materials, tools, equipment, and logistical support required to execute work safely, efficiently, and productively.

This role will lead warehouse, logistics, and tool management personnel while working closely with Operations, Procurement, Project Management, Project Controls, Fabrication, and Field Leadership teams. The successful candidate will develop and implement scalable systems, processes, and controls that support multiple projects, trades, and locations while maintaining accountability, organization, and cost efficiency.

The ideal candidate understands industrial construction operations and can effectively bridge the gap between procurement, warehousing, fabrication, and field execution. Key Responsibilities Material Management Develop and implement company-wide material management processes and standards. Oversee receiving, inspection, storage, preservation, inventory control, staging, and distribution of project materials.

Ensure accurate tracking of materials from purchase through installation. Establish and maintain material traceability requirements when required by project specifications. Monitor material shortages, overages, damaged goods, and discrepancies. Coordinate material transfers between warehouses, fabrication facilities, and project sites. Develop reporting and tracking systems to provide material status updates to project teams and leadership.

  Warehouse & Yard Operations Manage all Regional warehouses, storage facilities, and project laydown yards. Develop warehouse layouts and storage strategies that maximize space utilization and operational efficiency. Ensure proper material handling, storage, preservation, and protection practices. Maintain inventory accuracy through routine cycle counts, physical inventories, and audits.

Implement and maintain warehouse management systems and inventory controls. Establish and enforce housekeeping, organization, and storage standards across all facilities. Coordinate transportation, loading, unloading, and movement of materials between locations. Site Logistics & Laydown Management Develop and manage site logistics plans for construction projects. Coordinate laydown yard utilization, traffic flow, material staging, and equipment access.

Work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Construction Managers to forecast upcoming material requirements. Ensure materials are staged and sequenced to support construction schedules and productivity goals. Coordinate heavy-haul deliveries, crane picks, oversized loads, and critical material movements. Minimize material handling costs and reduce unnecessary material movement. Support project mobilization and demobilization activities.

Tool & Equipment Management Develop and oversee company-wide tool and equipment management programs. Manage tool cribs, tool inventory systems, and tool accountability processes. Maintain accurate tracking of company-owned tools, specialty equipment, and construction assets. Implement barcode, RFID, GPS, or other asset-tracking systems to improve accountability and visibility. Establish tool issuance, return, and accountability procedures for field personnel.

Coordinate tool deployment based on manpower forecasts and project requirements. Monitor utilization and recommend purchases, transfers, rentals, or retirement of assets. Ensure calibration, certification, inspection, and maintenance requirements are met for applicable tools and equipment. Reduce tool loss, theft, damage, and unnecessary replacement costs through effective controls and audit programs.
