Our Risk and Payments department protects the business and our players across payments, fraud prevention, and KYC processes. As a Risk and Payments Intern, you will rotate through the Risk and Payments and Fraud teams, taking on analytical and process-focused work that complement s the effort of our team today . You will receive structured training and work alongside experienced analysts .
What You'll Do: Build, maintain, or optimize dashboards and reports in SQL to support data-driven decision-making across the department. Analyze withdrawal and transaction data to identify trends and volume spikes that help the team prioritize workload. Contribute to the analysis of fraud trends and assist in implementing mitigation strategies.
Assist the senior fraud analysts with monitoring trends of ongoing fraud groups as needed. Learn and take ownership of designated daily monitoring reports. Review flagged accounts against defined criteria and escalate anything that falls outside those criteria. Support chargeback process improvements, including updating the dispute report template and compiling stakeholder feedback.
Compare SOPs and escalation guidance across the Risk and Payments, Fraud, and Customer Support teams to identify gaps and redundancies. Gather feedback from analysts on existing reports and tools and compile it into actionable recommendations. Participate in training sessions and provide support to other members of the Risk and Payments department as directed.
Follow SOPs, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements. All other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring: Currently enrolled undergraduate student in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business, Finance, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Working knowledge of SQL gained through coursework, academic projects, or prior experience.
Experience with data analysis, including projects involving statistical analysis of datasets. Interest in fraud mitigation and fraud investigations. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Availability to work 15-28 hours per week for 12 weeks beginning in January. Familiarity with JavaScript or data reporting tools such as Looker is a plus. Must be able to obtain and maintain gaming certifications or licenses as required. This role spans a wide breadth of experience at Rush Street Interactive, welcoming candidates with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and locations.
The pay range reflects potential variations in experience, skills, and location. The pay range does not reflect total compensation, which includes base pay, benefits, and/or bonuses. For candidates outside the US (Canada, Europe, Latin America), we take a locally informed approach to compensation and will share specific ranges based on your country of residence.
