Job Summary: The Senior Production Engineer provides technical leadership and analytical support to ensure cylindrical battery production lines achieve established safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives. This position supports production priorities, evaluates operational risks, leads the resolution of quality and equipment-related issues, and develops sustainable process improvements.
Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and fire-prevention requirements, and provide related guidance to engineers and production personnel. Monitor production performance against established plans and targets, including the classification and status of conforming, nonconforming, and pending inventory. Lead engineering activities supporting quality, cost, and delivery objectives; prepare weekly and monthly performance reports identifying trends, risks, and improvement actions.
Identify production priorities, equipment downtime, quality concerns, and process failures; evaluate their operational impact and lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions. Develop and implement short-, mid-, and long-term improvement projects to address recurring issues affecting productivity, quality, or cost. Lead or support Six Sigma and continuous-improvement initiatives, including data analysis, assigned training, project tracking, and presentation of results.
Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, and other departments, as well as local and international vendors, to resolve technical issues and coordinate equipment repairs, replacements, and improvements. Update applicable standards and controlled documents following significant production events, including control plans, work standards, maintenance procedures, process-down procedures, preventive-maintenance guides, and operating manuals.
Mentor engineers, delegate project-related tasks as appropriate, and train production personnel on new equipment, processes, and procedures. Maintain workplace organization and cleanliness according to 5S principles—Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—and 3R principles—Right Location, Right Quantity, and Right Container. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field Minimum of 7 years in engineering experience in a production, manufacturing, or plant environment Wear required personal protective equipment including but not limited to glasses, helmet, shoes, vests and gloves Work scheduled shifts of up to 12 hours Regularly lift, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds Skills: Advanced knowledge of quality engineering tools such as DOE, PFMEA and RCA Strong data analysis and process optimization skills Ability to serve as a subject matter expert and lead technical decision making Experience using CAD tools preferred Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results in a fast-paced environment Cross functional leadership and communication skills Why should you work here?
