About This Position The Assistant Food Service Director works with the Food Service Director to plan activities associated with running a large food service operation with one or more production kitchens. The Assistant Food Service Director is also responsible for supervising a group of food service workers that are involved with the preparation and distribution of food in the kitchen. You will work onsite inside a jail/correctional facility.

Our ideal Assistant Food Service Director excels at the following: Passionate about food and service Experience with food handling regulations Desire to always learn more Work as a team member Adapt to changes quickly Essential Functions/Main Responsibilities Responsible for the guidance, training, and management of the facility food service operation. You will hire, orient, train and issues corrective action (when applicable) to team members.
Oversee the appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served according to facility or site plan. Maintain accuracy of inventory in advance preparation of planned menu schedule. Ensure that food items are stored properly. Maintain all serving schedules to ensure all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental guidelines. Maintain a sanitary environment following food service and Health Department codes and regulations.
Responsible for any state or other inspection of food service operation. Other responsibilities as determined by our needs. What You'll Need High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. Two years of management or supervisory experience in a food service position. Three years of experience working in food service. ServSafe Certification. Must have experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.
Experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods. Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and with food service management systems. We prefer prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
