Job Duties and Responsibilities The Journeyman HVAC Technician is responsible for repairing, installing, replacing, and testing HVAC/R, and control circuits, equipment, and appliances and repair of environmental control systems.
Will have an in-depth knowledge of Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning systems Including chillers, cooling towers, Computer Room Air Conditioner Units (DX and Chilled water) RTU’s, (DX and chilled water) and Air Handling Units. What Success Looks Like (Objectives): Other duties may be assigned. Assists workers engaged in installation, repair, and service of environmental control systems. Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts.
Cuts, bends, fits, threads, and joins piping and tubing. Installs air and water filters. Adjusts controls as necessary. Connects, adjusts, and troubleshoots temperature controls systems. Lubricates fans, motors, and control units. Must be able to follow blueprints or engineering specifications. Other duties as required. (Painting, Cleaning, Snow removal and general building maintenance as required) Skills, Experience and Requirements Core Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring): High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 7 years of experience troubleshooting, servicing, repairing and/or replacing medium to large commercial HVAC (not residential) systems with minimal supervision. (5 years’ experience must be at Journeyman level.) (2 years must be at a 24/7 critical facility) Current Journeyman HVAC Licenses in any state required.
EPA Certification/CFC Licenses required. Able to braze and solder all sizes of refrigerant piping. Preferred Skills: Certified in stick welding (SMAW) Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
