The Senior Project Engineer provides advanced project coordination, technical support, and administrative leadership for construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for supporting the planning, documentation, communication, and control processes necessary for successful project delivery, while helping ensure that work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and Skanska’s standards of quality and operational excellence.
The Senior Project Engineer serves as a key member of the project team and works closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders to support day-to-day project execution. This position takes a lead role in managing project documentation, submittals, RFIs, procurement tracking, change management support, meeting coordination, and project reporting.
The Senior Project Engineer is also expected to help identify and resolve project issues, support financial and schedule controls, and contribute to a collaborative team environment that reflects Skanska’s values of safety, ethics, inclusion, sustainability, and continuous improvement. Senior Project Engineer Required Qualifications: 3+ Years of experience creating documentation such as RFIs, and client correspondence on issues related to the notification provisions in contracts.
3+ years of reading and understanding construction plans and drawings and the technical specifications associated with drawings. Able to outline specifications required for submission to clients and ensure submittals and shop drawings are approved. 2+ years preparing subcontract scopes and contracts. 2+ years experience with project close out. 1+ years working with cost control systems. Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar or 8 years equivalent experience plus minimum 3 years prior relevant experience.
