Purpose Responsible for leading siting, routing, permitting, and licensing efforts for electric transmission and generation projects. This position provides technical leadership, project management, client engagement, and cross-functional coordination to support the successful delivery of energy infrastructure projects.
The role works collaboratively with civil, environmental, and electrical professionals to advance projects from early routing studies through permit acquisition while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Bowman quality standards. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Provide technical leadership for routing, siting, permitting, and licensing activities on electric transmission and generation projects.
Mentor and support junior staff, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing within the siting and routing discipline. Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate efforts across civil, environmental, and electrical disciplines. Support workforce planning, project staffing, and resource allocation to meet project objectives. Contribute to the growth and development of Bowman’s energy practice through technical expertise and industry engagement.
Represent Bowman in client meetings, regulatory proceedings, industry events, and professional organizations. At the Operational and Company Level Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects. Support business development efforts by preparing proposals, cost estimates, and technical approaches for prospective projects. Coordinate with Bowman offices and business units nationwide to deliver integrated solutions and maintain client satisfaction.
Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of technical work products and ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements. Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies related to regulatory, permitting, and stakeholder concerns. Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, utilities, developers, and project stakeholders. Do the Work Lead routing and siting studies, including alternatives analysis, corridor evaluation, and technical reporting.
Manage permitting and licensing efforts, including development of permitting strategies and preparation of permit application packages. Support preparation of utility applications, including Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) and comparable state siting approvals. Coordinate agency consultations, regulatory filings, public outreach activities, stakeholder meetings, and public hearings.
Review technical studies, environmental documentation, GIS-based analyses, and project deliverables. Provide technical expertise related to regulatory compliance and permitting requirements for electric transmission and generation projects. Monitor project performance and communicate status, challenges, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
