Patient Care Assistant/Patient Care Technician - Med/Surg - FT - Nights
Uvalde Memorial Hospital is hiring for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support our Med/Surg and ICU teams. What You’ll Do You’ll play a key role in supporting nurses and caring for patients by providing hands-on assistance and helping maintain a safe, clean, and responsive patient care environment. Responsibilities may include: Assisting patients with activities of daily living (bathing, hygiene, mobility, meals) Taking and documenting vital signs , weights, and intake/output Performing blood glucose checks (Accuchecks) Supporting safe transfers and ambulation, using lifts/transfer equipment as needed Communicating changes in patient condition to the nursing team Following infection control practices and patient safety procedures For Patient Care Technicians (preferred): additional duties may include skills such as EKGs/telemetry support and specimen collection/phlebotomy based on training, competency, and unit needs Requirements High School Diploma or GED Current BLS (Healthcare Provider) One of the following: CNA program completion, or CMA certification, or One year of an LVN or RN program, or 1+ year of related healthcare experience as a nurse aide Phlebotomy certification preferred.
EKG certification preferred Medical Assistant Certification Preferred.
