Ransom Everglades School seeks a dynamic and reliable Substitute School Nurse who will provide temporary health services for Middle and Upper School students (grades 6–12), stepping in during the regular nurse's absence to ensure a safe campus health environment. Responsibilities: Evaluate student illnesses and injuries Administer over-the-counter and prescribed medications as needed/ordered Respond to acute medical emergencies Maintain accurate medical documentation Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, and administrators while strictly upholding HIPAA and FERPA confidentiality standards. This is an on-call position designed to provide support when our regular team member is unavailable.
The School is unable to guarantee a set number of hours each week, and the role does not offer employer-sponsored benefits. Qualifications Qualifications: Hold an active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license Current CPR/AED certification, with background in pediatrics, adolescent health, or school nursing preferred Strong clinical assessment abilities and adaptability in a dynamic independent school setting Clear communication with teenagers and parents Capacity to make sound, independent decisions in emergency situations Performance Factors: Attendance and Dependability: Reliable, with minimal absences and consistent punctuality Communication: Clear and effective communication with colleagues, students, and parents Teamwork: Works well with others, fostering positive, professional relationships and contributing to a constructive work environment
