Description Program: RISE (Resilience, Independence, Skills, and Empowerment) Organization: Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) Location: New Haven, CT Schedule: Part-time, 2 mornings per week Duration: 9/8/26- 9/30/26 Position Summary The Childcare Provider will support the RISE program by providing safe, nurturing, and age-appropriate care for participants’ children during program sessions.
This role is essential in enabling women participants to fully engage in learning and empowerment activities. Key Responsibilities Provide attentive, safe, and culturally sensitive childcare for young children during RISE sessions Supervise children in a designated childcare space at the program site Plan and facilitate simple, age-appropriate activities (e.g., play, drawing, reading) Ensure children’s basic needs are met, including comfort, safety, and emotional support Maintain a clean and organized childcare area Follow CIRI’s child safeguarding, safety, and attendance protocols Communicate respectfully with program staff regarding children’s needs or concerns Qualifications Experience providing childcare to young children (professional or community-based) Ability to work with children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds Patience, reliability, and a caring demeanor Basic understanding of child safety and hygiene practices Ability to work independently while coordinating with program staff Background check required (per CIRI policy) Preferred Qualifications Experience working with refugee or immigrant families CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to communicate in Dari, Pashto, English Working Environment Supportive, women-centered, and community-focused setting On-site supervision by RISE program staff Childcare is provided during adult education and empowerment sessions only Compensation $20/ hour
