Description The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) represents more than 1,700 companies in the United States and globally that play a critical role in supplying recycled materials to manufacturing industries. ReMA promotes safe, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible recycling through education, networking, and advocacy. The Director serves as ReMA's enterprise lead for email communications, overseeing the processes, priorities, and performance of association-wide email campaigns.
Working across departments, the Director manages campaign planning, scheduling, audience strategy, deployment, and reporting to ensure a coordinated, effective member communication experience. This senior individual contributor role provides organization-wide leadership for email communications, working across departments to establish standards, coordinate campaigns, and guide deployment decisions.
Departments retain ownership of content and objectives, while the Director ensures campaigns are delivered through a consistent, coordinated, and measurable process. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Email Governance & Campaign Operations Leads ReMA's association-wide email communications program, establishing the processes and standards that guide campaign planning, prioritization, deployment, and performance. Manages the end-to-end lifecycle of email campaigns, from intake and scheduling through testing, deployment, and measurement. Evaluates campaign requests and make deployment decisions based on organizational priorities, audience needs, timing, readiness, and member experience considerations. Resolves competing communications requests and coordinate campaign activity across departments to ensure a consistent and effective communications strategy. Maintains quality, compliance, accessibility, and deliverability standards while promoting consistent adoption of established processes. Escalates sensitive or high-impact communications and provide operational guidance during high-volume or time-sensitive communications periods.
Communications Planning & Audience Management Maintains and manages ReMA's association-wide email communications calendar, coordinating campaign timing, sequencing, audience targeting, and deployment schedules across departments. Partners with departments to develop audience strategies, segmentation, distribution lists, and campaign recommendations that support organizational goals and member engagement.
Identifies and resolves scheduling conflicts, audience overlap, excessive communications volume, and other issues that may impact the member experience. Oversees audience data quality, list management, preference management, suppression practices, and compliance with applicable email marketing requirements. Coordinates email campaigns with related communications activities, including web, social media, events, advocacy, and member engagement initiatives.
Performance, Reporting & Optimization Establishes and maintains an association-wide framework for measuring and improving email performance. Tracks, analyzes, and reports campaign and portfolio-level metrics, providing leadership and stakeholders with actionable insights regarding engagement, audience behavior, communications volume, and overall effectiveness. Develops and maintains dashboards and reporting tools that provide visibility into campaign activity, performance trends, risks, and communications priorities.
Identifies opportunities to improve segmentation, timing, cadence, content effectiveness, and campaign performance through testing, analysis, and continuous improvement practices. Uses performance insights and organizational trends to inform communications planning, audience strategy, prioritization, and decision making.
