Job Purpose: The Inventory and Materials Supervisor will work closely with production to ensure materials are available for manufacturing to meet customers’ demands and BETA’s on-time delivery promise.
The Inventory and Materials Supervisor is responsible for setting stocking levels, minimums, and staging materials. The Inventory and Materials Supervisor has responsibility over BETA’s on-time delivery to include international shipments. This position will have supervision over two – six Material Handlers. Our Materials team works in a team environment, but each role has different functions and may have staggered hours to meet the needs of shipping, receiving and material handling.
BETA production hours are Monday – Thursday 6:00am-3:30pm, Friday 6:00-10:00am. Occasional overtime and flexibility required in Materials due to customer commitments. Essential Job Functions: Materials Planning & Production Support Monitor production schedules and related material requirements and usage to establish appropriate stocking levels, minimum quantities, and reorder points. Work with the Production Control Team to ensure material availability and support production scheduling.
Read work orders and receive instructions to determine material and equipment requirements. Work with the Engineering Team to develop material utilization plans and identify opportunities for material consolidation. Provide logistical support for Warranty, Spare Parts, and Field Service needs, including urgent customer-driven requirements. Inventory & Materials Management Maintain accurate material issues and withdrawals in the ERP system to support accurate inventory balances and job costing.
Manage and optimize the use of the Vertical Lift Module (VLM). Manage the annual cycle count process and support ongoing inventory accuracy. Establish and maintain effective inventory controls to ensure materials are available when needed while minimizing excess inventory. Shipping, Receiving & Compliance Ensure on-time delivery and compliance with applicable shipping standards, including international shipping and customs requirements.
Partner with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies related to shipping and receiving in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with ASME quality control requirements and ISO 9001 processes, including material traceability, inspection records, document control, and nonconformance management. Delegate day-to-day compliance activities as appropriate while retaining overall accountability for Materials-related requirements.
Cross-Functional Communication & Continuous Improvement Provide BETA leadership with timely updates regarding material shortages, inventory concerns, delivery risks, and other significant Materials issues. Identify and participate in Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives; lead improvement activities as appropriate. Collaborate with Production Control, Engineering, Accounting, Quality, and other departments to resolve material-related issues and support operational objectives.
Team Leadership & Development Lead, develop, and support the Materials team to achieve safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and operational objectives. Interview, select, onboard, and train Materials team members. Plan, assign, and direct work to ensure effective use of personnel and resources. Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and support employee development. Address employee concerns, resolve problems, and maintain accountability for team performance.
