The Mission: As a Lumber and Structural Estimator your primary objective is to interpret project plans, generate accurate material takeoffs, and compile high-impact quotes for our customers. You are responsible for analyzing blueprints, estimating material quantities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver complete, precise bids on deadline. As the analytical backbone of our pre-construction sales process, you ensure that our commitment to the builder is executed flawlessly from the initial blueprint to the final quote.
Defining the Role: Plan Interpretation & Estimation: Read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, and project scopes to accurately generate material lists and takeoffs for project bids and sold projects using our ERP software. Quote Preparation & Routing: Finalize small and large quotes; coordinate with category specialists, purchasing, and the sales team to secure accurate pricing and deliver polished customer presentations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Actively participate in pre-bid meetings with sales teams, market leaders, structural specialists, and purchasing to evaluate project viability and strategy. Structural Design & Component Sizing (Growth Area): Utilize engineering and layout software to create floor layouts, tall wall drawings, size headers/structural components, and troubleshoot technical issues on plans.
Active Communication: Maintain continuous, high-level communication with internal teams and customer touchpoints to prevent errors, resolve plan discrepancies, and meet deadlines. Customer & Team Focus: Serve as a reliable point person for project bids, placing customer needs first while fostering a collaborative, win-together team culture. What Success Looks Like: Performance is measured by your direct impact on our sales conversion rates, estimating accuracy, and project turnaround times: Quote Accuracy & Precision: Eliminating material takeoff errors to protect profitability and customer trust.
