Description Job Summary: The Network Engineer II supports the design, deployment, maintenance, security, and performance of network, infrastructure, cloud, and communications platforms across internal and customer-facing environments. This role maintains WAN, MAN, LAN, firewall, routing, switching, wireless, DNS, DHCP, server, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure. The Network Engineer II troubleshoots complex network and system issues, supports platform monitoring and security practices, and assists with physical and logical network design.
The position requires strong technical ownership, clear documentation, disciplined troubleshooting, and the ability to support both day-to-day operations and advanced technical projects. Requirements Key Outcomes of the Role: Success in this role looks like: Success in this role looks like: Reliable and secure network infrastructure that supports business operations and customer environments Well-maintained WAN, MAN, LAN, firewall, routing, switching, wireless, DNS, DHCP, server, and cloud platforms Clear visibility into network health, performance, capacity, risks, vulnerabilities, and lifecycle needs Timely resolution or escalation of complex network, system, cloud, and platform issues Network and infrastructure changes that are planned, documented, tested, and implemented with minimal disruption Strong support for cybersecurity practices, including patching, vulnerability remediation, access control, and monitoring Accurate documentation, diagrams, configuration records, and operational notes for supported environments IT & Platforms Team Role: Members of the IT & Platforms Team: Embody and reinforce the company’s ASCEND principles: Accountable, Solutions-Oriented, Curious, Empowered, Nimble, and Data-Driven Support secure, reliable, scalable, and well-documented technology platforms Follow established standards for architecture, configuration, documentation, monitoring, change control, and escalation Proactively identify technical debt, recurring issues, infrastructure risks, and opportunities for improvement Partner with Operations, Support, Field Services, Customer Service, vendors, and MSP customer stakeholders Balance speed and stability by using tools, automation, and standard processes where they reduce risk and improve supportability Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement, technical curiosity, and professional ownership Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Network Infrastructure & Platform Support Install, configure, maintain, and monitor network hardware, systems, and platform infrastructure Support WAN, MAN, LAN, routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, and related services Maintain network functionality, performance, security, and data integrity across supported environments Assist with physical and logical network design, implementation planning, and infrastructure upgrades Support servers, virtualization platforms, cloud infrastructure, and related platform dependencies Administer Azure, Microsoft 365, VMware, and other infrastructure or platform tools as assigned Troubleshooting, Monitoring & Incident Support Troubleshoot and investigate complex network, system, cloud, and platform issues Monitor network and platform health, performance, alerts, capacity, and service-impacting risks Support incident response, outage investigation, root cause analysis, and follow-up remediation Escalate issues appropriately with clear troubleshooting history, impact notes, and recommended next steps Work with vendors, carriers, and platform providers to resolve service-impacting issues Security, Patching & Operational Standards Maintain network and system security through patching, hardening, monitoring, and vulnerability remediation Support firewall, access control, VPN, segmentation, and secure configuration practices Follow cybersecurity policies, change management practices, and documentation standards Identify security gaps, ag
