Job Title: Assistant Controller Job Description We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the Controller and executive leadership team in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close process. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial information related to complex construction projects and will have extensive experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, accruals, and job cost accounting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in construction or major projects, possess leadership experience, and thrive in a fast-paced project-based environment. Responsibilities Support the Controller and executive team in overseeing accounting operations. Ensure the accuracy of financial information related to complex construction projects. Manage the month-end close process and financial reporting.
Oversee Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting. Conduct accrual and job cost accounting. Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance and support. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience. 1+ year of accounting management or supervisory experience. Strong experience in Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, job costing, accrual accounting, month-end close, general ledger accounting, and financial analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Industry experience in Construction. Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a project-driven environment. Work Environment This position is set in a dynamic, fast-paced project-based environment.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $52.88/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
