Job Title: Assistant Project Manager Job Description This Assistant Project Manager role supports the successful planning, estimation, and delivery of construction projects, with a focus on healthcare environments and piping systems. You will work closely with the Project Management team to coordinate project elements, maintain schedules and budgets, and ensure accurate bid preparation and reporting.
The position offers the opportunity to deepen your project management skills while contributing to complex projects up to $2.5M in scope. Responsibilities Work directly with the Project Management team to help manage and estimate construction projects, including projects involving piping systems. Organize and control project elements to ensure engineering projects are completed on time and within scope.
Review construction drawings for accuracy, completeness, and constructability. Assemble all necessary details and documentation required to prepare comprehensive job bid proposals. Develop and maintain strong relationships with sub-contractors and interact with them to secure necessary information for job bids. Support the Project Manager in collecting and organizing the information needed to complete the monthly Work in Progress (WIP) report.
Assist with projecting job budgets, monitoring costs, and supporting adherence to budget and task timing. Maintain project schedules by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and surfacing issues that require resolution. Interface with sub-contractors as needed to help ensure project costs remain aligned with budget and to support administration of contractor contracts. Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommend actions based on findings.
Travel to job sites as necessary to review progress, identify challenges, and help provide practical solutions. Assist in establishing, tracking, and meeting project timelines and deadlines. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by supporting and enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintain the project database by accurately updating information in construction systems and tools.
Be available to support the Project Manager in responding to and resolving customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Contribute to overall team success by taking on related tasks and responsibilities as needed. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience in the construction field, including exposure to projects up to approximately $2.5M in scope. Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings.
Working knowledge of project budgeting, including pricing of materials and labor. Practical experience supporting construction project management activities, such as scheduling, cost tracking, and reporting. Familiarity with construction and piping systems within a project environment. Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, sub-contractors, and other project stakeholders. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple project elements and deadlines.
Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and summarizing project information for reports. Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment and following established procedures and regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience in construction, engineering, or a related field. Experience supporting or preparing job bid proposals for construction projects.
Experience working with construction-related databases or project management systems. Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with sub-contractors and vendors. Strong communication skills to support customer inquiries and internal coordination. Experience working on healthcare construction projects is beneficial. Interest in growing into broader project management responsibilities over time.
