Level 2 Cable Technician Overview We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Cable Technician with strong fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing experience to support commercial, industrial, and data center projects. This role is ideal for a technician who can work independently, perform high-quality installations, troubleshoot cabling issues, and assist junior team members when needed. Key Responsibilities Structured Cabling Installation Install, route, secure, and label structured cabling systems Install and terminate: Cat5e Cat6 Cat6A Single-mode Fiber (OS2) Multi-mode Fiber (OM3/OM4) Build and cable equipment racks, cabinets, ladder racks, and pathway systems Maintain proper cable management, bend radius, grounding, and labeling standards Fiber Optic Work Perform fiber terminations using mechanical, fusion splice, and pre-terminated solutions Install and dress: Fiber enclosures Splice trays Patch panels Cassettes LIUs Troubleshoot fiber-related issues and perform repairs as needed Testing & Troubleshooting Test and certify fiber links using: OTDR Power Meter Light Source Fiber Inspection Scope Perform continuity, polarity, loss, and reflectance testing Test and certify copper cabling using Fluke and other approved certification tools Diagnose and resolve cabling faults and performance issues Documentation & Quality Label cables and ports according to project specifications Document fiber strand assignments, test results, patching information, and as-built drawings Ensure work meets TIA/EIA, BICSI, customer, and project standards Team Support Work independently or alongside project teams Assist and mentor Level 1 Technicians Support network cutovers, migrations, maintenance windows, and project deployments Required Qualifications Experience 2-5 years of structured cabling experience Hands-on experience with fiber termination, splicing, and testing Experience working in commercial, industrial, data center, telecommunications, or enterprise environments Ability to read blueprints, riser diagrams, and fiber schematics Technical Skills Fiber Termination Fusion Splicing OTDR Testing Fiber Certification Cat5e / Cat6 / Cat6A Installation Fluke Testing OSP and ISP environments Fiber Color Codes Structured Cabling Infrastructure Tools & Equipment Experience using: Fusion Splicers Fiber Cleavers OTDRs Power Meters Fluke Testers Cable Pulling Equipment Preferred Certifications BICSI Installer 2 (Copper or Fiber) FOA CFOT ETA Fiber Optic Technician (FOT) OSHA 10 OSHA 30 Manufacturer-specific fiber certifications Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
