Job Title: CNC Lathe Supervisor Job Description The CNC Lathe Supervisor leads daily operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment, overseeing a team of approximately 25 operators and machinists on first shift. This role is responsible for the set-up, operation, and programming of multiple CNC lathe machines, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The supervisor applies strong technical expertise and leadership skills to meet production goals, uphold quality standards, and drive continuous improvement across the machining department.

Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate first shift CNC lathe activities to ensure production goals and quality standards are consistently met. Lead and support a team of approximately 25 operators and machinists, providing clear direction and daily oversight. Perform advanced CNC lathe set-ups, including tooling adjustments, offsets, and programming as needed to support production. Train, mentor, and develop operators and set-up personnel to strengthen technical skills, performance, and overall team capability.

Review and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate and precise machining. Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime and scrap. Maintain machine performance through routine inspections and by coordinating required maintenance activities. Monitor workflow, prioritize tasks, and allocate personnel and equipment resources to maximize efficiency and throughput.

Enforce safety policies, housekeeping standards, and adherence to company procedures to maintain a safe and organized work area. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization. Ensure proper use of CNC programming software, including SprutCAM and similar tools, to optimize machining programs. Oversee compliance with machining best practices related to tooling, feeds, speeds, and G-code programming.

Essential Skills Minimum 8 years of CNC lathe experience, including set-up, operation, and programming. Prior supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of G-code, tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining best practices. Proficiency in programming CNC lathes using Mastercam or SprutCAM software. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.

Skill in using precision measurement tools to verify part dimensions and quality. Proven leadership abilities with strong communication and team-building skills. Demonstrated problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving machining and production issues. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supervising a team of CNC operators and machinists in a high-volume production setting.

Familiarity with continuous improvement practices in manufacturing environments. Comfort working with CNC programming software such as SprutCAM and tools similar to Mastercam. Strong organizational skills for coordinating workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation. Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to established procedures and standards. Why Work Here?
