Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description This role involves programming, setting up, and operating Haas 4-axis CNC milling machines and Haas CNC lathes to produce high-quality precision components. You will interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications, perform tooling and offset adjustments, and ensure all parts meet strict quality standards. The position also includes troubleshooting machining issues, performing routine maintenance, and occasionally operating manual lathes for custom, repair, prototype, or low-volume production work.
Responsibilities Program CNC machines using G-code for Haas 4-axis milling machines and Haas CNC lathes. Set up and operate Haas 4-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes to produce precision parts. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements. Perform tooling changes, offsets, and machine adjustments to optimize performance and maintain dimensional accuracy.
Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with quality and dimensional standards. Troubleshoot machining issues and implement effective solutions to improve production efficiency and part quality. Perform routine machine maintenance to ensure reliable and safe operation of CNC and manual equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company standards and procedures.
Complete occasional manual lathe work for custom, repair, prototype, and low-volume production jobs. Collaborate with team members and share improvement ideas to enhance processes and workflows. Essential Skills Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience. Strong experience with Haas CNC controls, including programming, machine setup, and operation. Proven ability to program CNC machines using G-code.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation accurately. Experience with 4-axis CNC milling operations. Experience with CNC turning operations on lathes. Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Strong understanding of quality inspection techniques and dimensional verification. Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve machining issues. Ability to perform routine maintenance on CNC and related machining equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with live tooling on CNC lathes is considered an asset. Experience operating manual machining equipment, including manual lathes, is considered an asset. Comfort working in a dynamic, changing production environment.
Strong communication skills and willingness to share ideas and suggestions for process improvement. Ability to work occasional extended hours or weekends when production needs require. Why Work Here?
