As a Construction Materials Technician, you'll perform field and laboratory testing, inspections, and observations that help ensure the quality and safety of construction projects.

Responsibilities Perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and steel. Conduct inspections and observations to verify compliance with project specifications.
Document testing activities, results, and field observations accurately. Review and communicate results to project managers and project teams. Operate, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment, including nuclear density gauges. Support quality assurance and quality control efforts on a variety of projects. Follow all company safety policies and industry standards. Travel to project sites as needed.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and construction teams. Participate in training, certification programs, and career development opportunities. Essential Skills 1+ year of construction, materials testing, inspection, or related field experience preferred. Ability to work outdoors and in active construction environments. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites. Strong communication skills and willingness to learn. Ability to safely operate testing equipment and follow safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications ACI, ICC, or NICET certifications, or willingness to obtain with company support. Experience with concrete, soil, asphalt, aggregate, or steel testing. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Familiarity with nuclear density gauges and construction inspection practices. Interest in career growth into Senior Technician, Assistant Project Manager, or Project Manager roles. Work Environment This is a primarily field-based position working on active construction sites and infrastructure projects. Technicians regularly work outdoors and may perform laboratory testing as needed. Travel between project sites is common, and occasional overnight or weekend work may be required with premium pay opportunities available.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Syracuse, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
