We are seeking an experience Database Administrator to support enterprise database environments with a strong focus on compliance, security, performance, and operational excellence. This individual will review databases against established technical and regulatory standards, identify compliance gaps, perform remediation efforts, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement long-term database standards and best practices.
The role will also support database administration, performance optimization, disaster recovery planning, and the ongoing maintenance of critical database platforms. Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience is required, while Snowflake experience is preferred. This person will be working Hawaii Standard Timezone and must be able to work in the USA. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Extensive experience administering databases within large enterprise environments. Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, and security.
Experience reviewing database environments for compliance, security standards, audit requirements, risk remediation, and exception management. Advanced SQL development experience including stored procedures, functions, constraints, indexing, partitioning, DDL, DML, and T-SQL. Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, maintenance plans, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
Knowledge of database security, access controls, change management, and RDBMS best practices. Ability to evaluate compliance findings, identify root causes, and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to develop practical solutions. Strong documentation, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidential information.
Remote position with required availability during Hawaii Standard Time (HST) business hours. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Healthcare industry experience is preferred but not required. Qualifications: Experience with enterprise database platforms such as Oracle, Teradata, DB2, Sybase, or MySQL. Experience supporting database audits, security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and compliance initiatives.
Experience with database monitoring and diagnostic tools used for availability, performance, and capacity management. Experience planning and completing database upgrades, migrations, platform changes, and disaster recovery testing. Relevant Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, cloud, database, or security certifications. Experience leading database projects, coordinating technical workstreams, or mentoring junior database administrators.
Relevant Microsoft, database, cloud, security, or Snowflake certifications is a plus. Experience administering Snowflake environments, including security, governance, monitoring, performance optimization, and cost management is a plus. Experience supporting Epic environments is a plus. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Honolulu, HI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
