Job Title: Driver Helper Job Description The Driver Helper supports box truck drivers with deliveries of mattresses and bed frames, assists with loading and unloading trucks, and helps assemble bed frames as needed. This role involves regular heavy lifting, frequent use of hand and power tools, and working in a manufacturing environment to ensure products are handled and assembled safely, efficiently, and to a high quality standard.
Responsibilities Assist box truck drivers with daily delivery operations, including loading and unloading mattresses and bed frames from the truck. Safely lift, carry, and move heavy products such as mattresses, box springs, and bed frames throughout the delivery and handling process. Assemble bed frames at customer locations or within the facility using hand and power tools, following provided instructions and quality standards.
Use hand tools and power tools confidently and correctly to complete assembly and related tasks. Support general production and assembly activities as needed within the manufacturing environment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in trucks, loading docks, and production spaces. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when lifting, moving, and assembling products. Perform basic quality checks on assembled bed frames and handled products to ensure they meet company standards.
Communicate effectively with drivers, team members, and supervisors to coordinate deliveries and assembly tasks. Work collaboratively as part of a team, adapting to changing delivery schedules, priorities, and production needs. Manage time efficiently to complete loading, unloading, and assembly tasks within required timeframes. Demonstrate reliability and attention to detail in all aspects of delivery assistance and product handling.
Essential Skills Experience with general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, and material handling. Ability to perform frequent heavy lifting and safely handle bulky items like mattresses and bed frames. Comfort and proficiency using hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers) for assembly work. Comfort and proficiency using power tools for product assembly and related tasks. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination for precise assembly work.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and quality control of products. Basic technical skills related to assembly, production, or manufacturing processes. Ability to work effectively in a production and manufacturing environment. Good time management skills to complete tasks within delivery and production schedules. Clear communication skills to coordinate work with drivers and team members.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and support coworkers. Adaptability to changing tasks, schedules, and priorities in a fast-paced setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in production, assembly, or manufacturing roles. Experience in general labor, loading, and unloading in a warehouse or factory setting. Familiarity with quality control practices in a manufacturing environment.
