Job Title: Electrical Estimator Job Description This full-time Electrical Estimator role is based in the Mesa, AZ office and focuses on providing accurate, timely, and technically sound estimates for electrical construction projects from initial bid preparation through job closeout documentation. The position supports mission-critical projects such as data centers and semiconductor facilities and plays a key role in winning work and ensuring projects start with solid financial and technical foundations.
Responsibilities Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems and components on assigned projects. Enter quantity takeoff data accurately into estimating software and maintain organized records. Solicit, receive, and review quotations from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive and complete pricing. Review current material pricing levels and update estimates to reflect market conditions.
Analyze and estimate addenda as required, revising proposals and budgets accordingly. Visit project sites and/or attend site walk meetings to understand existing conditions and project scope. Review bid and construction schedules to align estimates with project timelines and logistical requirements. Draft, format, and submit clear, professional proposal documents to customers and internal stakeholders.
Follow established post-bid closeout procedures, including documentation, follow-up, and handoff to project teams. Attend weekly estimating team meetings to coordinate efforts, share information, and support team goals. Collaborate with project management, construction management, and preconstruction teams as needed to refine estimates and support project planning. Perform additional estimating and related duties as assigned to support department and company objectives.
Essential Skills Minimum of 2+ years of experience as an electrical estimator. Hands-on electrical construction experience or a construction management degree. Experience supporting mission-critical projects such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, or similar complex environments. Proficiency with electrical estimation processes, including quantity takeoffs and use of estimating software. Strong conceptual estimating skills with the ability to develop budgets and forecasts from incomplete or early-stage design information.
Demonstrated financial analytical skills to evaluate costs, margins, and pricing strategies. Excellent oral and written communication skills for interacting with internal teams, vendors, and clients. Excellent human relations skills with the ability to build effective working relationships and maintain confidentiality. Ability to review and interpret bid documents, drawings, specifications, and construction schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications in construction management, with experience in roles such as Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, or Preconstruction, where Experience estimating responsibilities were part of the role. Experience working on data center and semiconductor projects or other mission-critical facilities. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills to handle a high volume of information and tasks. Comfort working both independently and as part of a collaborative estimating team. Interest in long-term career growth within electrical construction and estimating. Work Environment This position is based in the Mesa, AZ office and operates in a professional, office-based environment using estimating software and standard business technology.
The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with specific start and end times to be determined.
