Job Title: Electrical I&E Engineer Job Description The Electrical I&E Engineer serves as the site electrical authority within the Maintenance Department, focusing on plant power systems, instrumentation, and control systems in a chemical production environment. This role maintains and updates critical electrical documentation, ensures compliance with safety codes and standards, supports preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and provides technical guidance to maintenance and operations teams to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.

Responsibilities Maintain prompt, regular, and dependable attendance to support ongoing plant operations. Serve as the Site Electrical Engineer for the Maintenance Department, acting as a technical authority on electrical systems and controls. Maintain and update plant electrical single-line diagrams and associated arc flash analyses, including labeling and documentation. Act as the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for NFPA 70E compliance, ensuring electrical safety standards are met across the facility.

Specify and implement appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs for electrical and control systems. Apply knowledge of PLCs, instruments, DCS systems, UPS systems, and low-voltage plant systems (under 600 VAC) to support troubleshooting and system improvements. Apply knowledge of DC voltage systems for PLCs, instruments, DCS systems, UPS systems, and other plant systems to ensure reliable operation.

Provide maintenance-focused input to new process equipment purchase specifications to ensure electrical and instrumentation adequacy and maintainability. Provide clear direction to electricians, mechanics, and other technical staff to support projects, maintenance activities, and plant reliability initiatives. Collaborate effectively with I&E Technicians and management to plan, prioritize, and execute electrical and instrumentation work.

Train co-workers in areas of electrical and instrumentation expertise as needed to build team capability. Participate in Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews to ensure safe commissioning and startup of new or modified systems. Contribute to specifying on-site maintenance and repair capabilities, including tooling and equipment requirements. Recommend improvements based on findings from Root Cause Failure Analysis and other reliability investigations.

Establish and maintain critical equipment spare parts lists to support uninterrupted plant operations. Analyze equipment trends, historical records, and field data to recommend reliability and performance improvements. Prepare electrical system specifications and technical drawings to ensure installations and operations conform to standards and plant requirements. Perform detailed electrical calculations to establish construction, manufacturing, and installation standards or specifications.

Direct or coordinate installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and plant requirements. Complete additional assignments as needed to support plant maintenance, reliability, and safety objectives. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.

Minimum 2 years of experience working with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives and motors, low and medium power distribution, substations, and power distribution equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and cables. Minimum 2 years of experience in facility engineering, including support of plant utilities and infrastructure. Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including the ability to perform detailed calculations and develop technical specifications.

Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming, with the ability to support automation and control system modifications. Experience with
