Industrial Electrician Job Description The Industrial Electrician maintains, repairs, and improves robotic weld cells, production equipment, and electrical systems throughout the facility. This role focuses on safely troubleshooting complex automation systems, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, and installing components on new and existing machinery to support efficient and reliable production operations.

Responsibilities Maintain and repair robotic weld cells and electrical systems within the building and on equipment, responding to requests and issued work orders. Safely troubleshoot various automotive stamping and production equipment to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation. Diagnose and resolve issues with variable frequency drives (VFDs), servomotors, and network communication devices.

Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all mechanical and electrical equipment to prevent failures and extend equipment life. Repair, troubleshoot, and install machinery, control systems, and automation components in accordance with established standards. Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve existing robotics and other machinery, enhancing efficiency and performance. Source and coordinate replacement parts through electrical suppliers as required for maintenance and repair activities.

Use electronic data collection equipment efficiently to record maintenance activities, equipment status, and performance information. Perform all duties in alignment with 5S standards, maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient work area. Ensure all work completed complies with applicable codes, standards, and internal procedures. Follow instructions and procedures as outlined in Work Area Reference Manuals applicable to the department.

Adhere to processes and instructions as defined in the Process House documentation for the department. Comply with all company HR policies and procedures in the performance of daily activities. Work safely at all times, following safety policies and procedures, and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas. Maintain a safe work area for self and colleagues, promptly reporting unsafe working conditions, unsafe practices, and work-related injuries to a supervisor or manager.

Essential Skills Completion of an Ontario Certificate of Qualification 309A and/or 442A as an Electrician. Minimum of 2+ years of experience working as an industrial electrician in a plant environment. Heavy automation experience, including work with Siemens and similar industrial automation platforms. Strong ability to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including Siemens PLCs. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, including programming, data collection, and troubleshooting.

Demonstrated experience with preventative and predictive maintenance on industrial electrical and mechanical equipment. Ability to safely troubleshoot automotive stamping and production equipment. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing VFDs, servomotors, and network communication devices. Capability to repair, install, and improve machinery, control systems, and automation equipment. Commitment to working safely, following safety policies, and using appropriate PPE.

Ability to work in accordance with 5S standards and internal process documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Certificate in Programmable Logic Control is an asset. Experience with electronic data collection equipment for maintenance and production reporting. Familiarity with industrial electrical systems in automotive manufacturing or similar high-volume production environments. Ability to identify and implement improvements to robotics and automated machinery.
