Job Title: Fiberglass Technician Job Description The Fiberglass Technician works in a manufacturing facility to spray fiberglass insulation into moldings, ensuring high-quality finishes through careful application, sanding, and minor painting. This role supports the production of water intake screens by preparing and lining molds using fiberglass materials and pneumatic spray equipment. Responsibilities Operate fiberglass spray guns and pneumatic spray equipment to apply fiberglass insulation into molds according to specifications.

Prepare molds and work surfaces for fiberglass application, ensuring cleanliness and proper setup before spraying. Mix catalysts and other required materials accurately to achieve correct fiberglass consistency and curing properties. Spray fiberglass to create lined moldings, ensuring even coverage and adherence to quality standards. Fill moldings with fiberglass materials, cover and encapsulate the fiberglass, and ensure proper layering and thickness.

Perform sanding of finished parts to achieve smooth surfaces and prepare them for final finishing. Carry out minor painting and touch-ups on fiberglass components as needed to meet appearance and durability requirements. Inspect completed parts for defects, inconsistencies, or imperfections and make necessary corrections. Use auto body repair techniques when applicable to refine, repair, or rework fiberglass components.

Follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling fiberglass, catalysts, and spray equipment. Maintain spray guns, tools, and equipment in clean and good working condition, reporting any issues promptly. Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and support the expansion to additional shifts. Adhere to manufacturing instructions, work orders, and quality standards throughout the production process.

Essential Skills 2–3 years of hands-on experience working with fiberglass in a manufacturing, fabrication, or similar environment. Proficiency using fiberglass spray guns to apply fiberglass materials into molds or onto surfaces. Experience operating pneumatic spray guns and related spray equipment safely and effectively. Ability to mix catalysts and other components accurately for fiberglass applications.

Practical experience with sanding and minor painting to finish fiberglass or similar surfaces. Knowledge of basic auto body repair or finishing techniques related to fiberglass or composite materials. Ability to follow detailed work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards in a production setting. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise spraying, sanding, and finishing work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications 2–3 years of experience with auto body work, including repair, sanding, and finishing, is highly beneficial. Experience in painting or blasting within a manufacturing or auto body environment is a plus. Familiarity with working in a non-climate-controlled shop environment. Ability to work effectively on different shifts as production expands. Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting production goals and deadlines.
